Hypothalamic arcuate nucleus neurons produce and release it.
GnRH causes the release of gonadotropins Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH)

Stimulates follicle development and ovulation in the ovary AND estrogen synthesis and release.

Stimulates the development of the corpus luteum.
