GOM Flashcards
company pilots may not conduct a flight under IFR unless it carries enough fuel, considering weather reports or forecasts, to
complete the flight to the destination airport; and
fly from that airport to the alternate airport; and fly after that for 45 minutes at normal cruising speed
when is an alternate not required
if there is a standard IAP for the destination airport, and for at least one hour before and after the estimated time of arrival, the appropriate weather reports or forecasts indicate that:
The ceiling will be at least 1500’ above the minimum circling altitude; or
if circling is not authorized for the airport, the ceiling will be at least 1500’ above the lowest published straight in min, or 2000’ above the airport elevation, whichever is higher; and
visibility for that airport is forecast to be at least three miles, or 2 miles more than the lowest applicable vis mins, whichever is greater, for the IAP to be used
company pilots must not depart an airport IFR where weather conditions are at or above t/o mins but below IFR landing mins, unless there is
an alternate airport within 1 hours flying time of the departure airport
if takeoff minima are published for the departure airport, company pilots must comply with the
published takeoff minima or Standard takeoff minima (1 SM or RVR 5000), whichever is higher
when a takeoff minima is not published, the company pilots may use
the standard takeoff minima or any lower than standard authorized by ops specs
when takeoff minima are equal to or less than the applicable standard takeoff minima, the company is authorized to use
a takeoff minimum equal to the the lowest authorized straight in CAT 1 IFR landing min, but the wind direction/velocity must allow for an approach back to that runway

alternate airport IFR weather minimums
for airports with at least one straight in non precision approach or CAT 1 precision approach, or circling approach
add 400’ to MDA or DA and 1 SM
alternate airport IFR weather minimums
for airports with at least 2 straight in approach procedure to different suitable runways
add 200’ to the higher DA or MDA of the two approaches used and 1/2 SM
