Golgi Apparatus Flashcards
What is the structure of a Golgi Apparatus?
It is a stack of flattened membrane sacs
The flattened sacs in GA can be referred to as what?
cisternae and vesicles
What are vesicles?
Small fluid filled sac that brings materials to and from the Golgi Apparatus
What does the GA receive?
Proteins from endoplasmic reticulum
What can the GA do to the things it receives?
Modify them
What is the function of the GA?
The transport and processing of molecules, particularly (protein from the ER)
Where can some modified proteins be transported?
To the surface of the cell to be secreted
Does the GA have a membrane around it?
yes
Plant or animal?
both
What are some golgi vesicles used for?
To make lysosomes
