Dx and tx of mucometra in goats
A
Cause of pseudopregnancy (usually older parous but can occur without prior breeding). Can have progressive abdo distension w ongoing fluid accumulation. Occurs under the influence of P4 dt persistent CL
Tx - PGF2a (0.5mg) or cloprostenol (250ug); uterus should empty within 48hr (NOT a sx condition). May req 2 doses, Usually in oestrus 2-3days after discharge of fluid w acceptable fertility rates.
