- Chief extensor of the thigh and lateral rotation
- Slight extension of the leg when working with tensor fascia lata
(Largest gluteal muscle)

Inferior gluteal nerve

- Superficial branch of the superior gluteal A.
- Inferior gluteal A.
Gluteus Maximus M. Insertion
- One head on the IT band
- One on the gluteal tuberosity
Gluteus Medius and Minimus M. : Functions
- Thigh abduction and medial rotation (particularly gluteus minimus)
Gluteus Medius and Minimus M. : Innervation
Superior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Medius and Minimus M. : Blood Supply
Deep branch of the superior gluteal A.
Tensor Fascia Lata M. : Function
- Abducts, medially rotates, and flexes thigh
- Slight extension of knee along with the gluteus maximus

Piriformis M. : Function
- Abduct on a flexed hip
- Laterally rotate on an extended hip

Nerve to Piriformis M.
Piriformis M. : Origin
Along the anterior lateral aspect of the sacrum
Piriformis M. : Insertion
Trochanteric Fossa
Obturator Internus M. : Function
Strong lateral rotator
