A

Tubercle (Gerdy’s) on lateral tibial condyle

28
Q

Iliotibial Tract (IT Band): Functions

A
  • Assists in decelerating adduction of thigh (so assists in abduction)
  • Laterally stabilizes knee
  • Extends leg, compensate for quadriceps paralysis via gluteus maximus flexion
  • Pulls patella laterally, antagonist of vastus medialis, and synergist with flexing vastus laterals for this action
  • Stretch to treat chondromalacia patella
29
Q

Obturator Internus M. : Insertion

A

Greater trochanter of the femur

30
Q

Superior and Inferior Gemellus Ms. : Function

A

Act together to perform lateral rotation

31
Q

Superior and Inferior Gemellus Ms. : Origin

A
  • Super = on the ischial spine

- Inferior = Just beneath the ischial spine

32
Q

Superior and Inferior Gemellus Ms. : Insertion

A

Trochanter and trochanteric fossa of the femur

33
Q

Quadratus Femoris M. : Function

A

Strong lateral rotator
