GLucose Flashcards
Blood glucose less than what in known diabetic and normal person
Less than 60 in normal and less than 80 in diabetic
Unable to take orally
administer dextrose 50%, 25-50 mL (in large vein) or dextrose 10%, 125-250 mL.
How often do you check blood sugar
10 min
If unable to administer oral glucose or establish IV/IO
IM glucagon 1 mg
Opioid intoxication with IV and without
If no IV/IO has been established, administer naloxone 2 mg IM/IN
If IV/IO already established, administer naloxone 0.5 mg IV/IO and observe for
improved respiration, IV/IO dose may be repeated every 2 minutes up to 2 mg
In some cases (methadone or designer drugs), larger doses of naloxone may
be necessary. In these cases, additional doses of naloxone (2 mg IM/IN or IV/IO
every 3-5 minutes) up to a MAX of __ mg of naloxone may be administered to reverse
opioid intoxication

The goal of naloxone administration is
restoration of adequate ventilation, not a normal level of consciousness
Rapid blood glucose determination. If glucose determination is less than 60 mg%
(less than ___mg% for neonates), administer oral glucose to conscious patient, OR,
40
For PEDS May repeat every___ minutes with strong suspicion of opiate overdose, or if
partial response is noted
