The world system
The economic incorporation of different parts of the world into a system based on capitalism, not politics
Cultural diffusion
The passage of a cultural category culturally defined behavior or culturally produced artifact from one society to another through borrowing
Cultural hybridization
The process by which a cultural custom item or concept is transformed to fit the cultural context of a society that borrows it
Immigrants
People who pass into a country from another in another to take up a permanent residence
Refugees
People who flew their country of origin because they share a fear of persecution. Often become immigrants
Guest workers
Individuals who are given temporary visas to live and work in another country
Tourism
Temporary travel by individuals or groups of people to areas outside their immediate home for recreation education health or sex
