What did the industrial revolution do for cottage industries?
Destroyed them as there were new technologies introduced
What are cottage industries?
Small, typically family owned operations which work in the house
Where did the cottage industry workers move to after the industrial revolution?
They moved into the industry, into factories (migration)
What did the migration from cottage industries to the industry do for society?
Changed family lifestyles and cultures
What is consumerism?
The theory that people that use more services and products will be better off

Colonialism. Used for economic growth
What is colonialism?
The process by which one country takes political control of another country, territory, or people, often exploiting their resources and imposing its own language and cultural values
