Mostly done by hand (primary industries).
What did the industrial revolution do for cottage industries?
Destroyed them as there were new technologies introduced
What are cottage industries?
Small, typically family owned operations which work in the house
Where did the cottage industry workers move to after the industrial revolution?
They moved into the industry, into factories (migration)
What did the migration from cottage industries to the industry do for society?
Changed family lifestyles and cultures
What is consumerism?
The theory that people that use more services and products will be better off
What did the EU use to access raw resources during the industrial revolution?
Colonialism. Used for economic growth
What is colonialism?
The process by which one country takes political control of another country, territory, or people, often exploiting their resources and imposing its own language and cultural values
How did the development of ports and infrastructure help throughout the industrial revolution?
It increased trade

Natural industries. Hands-on. Includes miners and farmers
What are secondary sector industries?
Uses the raw materials. Manufacturers
What are tertiary sector industries?
Services, such as lawyers and doctors. Split into two Qs

Quaternary and Quinary

Info taking such as journalism
What are Quinary sector industries?
Government jobs

Primary sector
As countries develop, industries move more towards what sectors?
Secondary then tertiary

higher semi or core countries for higher profit
What is the break of bulk point?
Changes of transportation, for example moving from boat to train

Countries not of origin. Typically people from lower developed countries because labour is cheaper
