Global Warming Flashcards

1
Q

What is global warming?

A

Layer of greenhouse gases. These gases trap the heat of the earth, allowing little to escape earth’s atmosphere and rebounds most of it back onto earth’s surface.

  • changes weather patterns
  • analogy: hot car
  • results of rapidly increasing sea levels
  • part of climate change
  • linked to extreme weather events

Q

Evidence of global warming:

A

Scientists have tested the levels of greenhouse gases in the ice, water and air. There is conclusive evidence of an increase of the levels of greenhouse gases since the industrial revolution.

Q

What is the ozone layer?

A

The ozone layer is a deep layer in the stratosphere, encircling the Earth, that has large amounts of ozone in it. The layer shields the entire Earth from much of the harmful ultraviolet radiation that comes from the sun.
