Electrical Power And Electrical Energy Flashcards
1
Q
What are the units of electrical energy?
A
Ampere - electrical current Volt - voltage Watt - electrical power Milliwatt - 1000th of a watt Kilowatt - 1000 x watt

Q
Differences between a series and parallel circuit?
A
- Series circuits are basic types of electrical circuits in which all components are joined in a sequence so that the same current flows through all of them.
- Parallel circuits are types of circuits in which the identical voltage occurs in all components, with the current dividing among the components based on their resistances, or the impedances.
- In series circuits, the connection or circuit will not be complete if one component in the series burns out.
- Parallel circuits will still continue to operate, at least with other components, if one parallel-connected component burns out.

Q
Where is a voltmeter placed in a working circuit?
A
The voltmeter is connected in parallel to the globe.
4
Q
Where in a circuit should an ammeter be placed?
A
An ammeter does not effect the voltage or current and therefore can be placed any where around a series circuit or wherever you want to measure the current.
