What is the climate like around the world
Uneven
How does climate affect water and good supplies
Hot
- less rainfall
- more evaporation
- harder working conditions
- more work pay expected due to conditions
- may have to experiment with different techniques (possibly more expensive)
Cold
- crops will not grow at a good enough rate
- you will need to build areas which provide the temperature needed
- transport may be hard/ dangerous (icy)
Which countries have a lot of natural resources
Russia - natural gas North Sea - oil North Sea - gas UK - coal South Arabia - oil
Do countries who sell their resources use many of them
Yes (specifically HICs)
1) more management in place - non-renewable? - won’t run out as fast
2) don’t share it with anyone - you would become more developed- not many other places will have it and if they do it will be a small amount - when they run out, your countries natural gas will value alit more.
No ( specifically LICs)
1)LICs will sell theirs, they are so under developed that it would be no use to them… they would prefer money to spend on other things
2) LICs want money
Which countries use the most energy? Why?
1) HICs
More developed
China- factories - big industries
America - very commercialised - more technology
2) Populated areas
More people for example, more phones, more energy
How does the population of countries affect the availability of resources
More people are in need of the resource therefore less to share
Higher consumption
Higher demand
More people, more workers therefore easier access to the resource
More people - harder to access it (a city on top of lots of coal? How u going to get it? - u can’t
Has energy consumption increased or decreased over time
Generally increased or stayed stationary
How is energy used in a country on a daily basis
To power: Factories Machinery Homes Schools Fridges Hair straighteners
If a country becomes more developed, why will it use more energy
More products
More people
More homes
More factories
- therefore more energy
How has energy consumption changed over time
It has increased because the globe is becoming more developed therefore requires more energy to power their supplies and products
