The higher skilled jobs mean more income therefor higher tax - government are not getting enough tax because people aren’t continuing school

Main reasons for children not attending school past age 14 and for the compulsory to only be 6-14:

• a shortage of nearby schools
• lack of money and need to work
• shortage of teachers
• low pay for teachers

The children from the favelas often miss days from school due to violence in favelas. Classes were cancelled in 2015 due to violence
