Q

Why should the UNSC arguably be reformed and in what way?

A

Many argue that the UNSC is outdated as it only represents the major powers in creation but not the powers today. Some argue powerful states such as Germany, Brazil and India should be added but current members can use their veto against this. More countries added would allow the UNSC’s composition reflect the political situation in the world.

Q

Purpose of UNGA, strength and weaknesses

A

The UN forum in which all 193 member states have an equal voice and vote. It is the only UN organ in which each member has permanent representation. However, it is relatively weak in its powers. Its resolutions are not binding and carry no force in international law. Member-states can, therefore, ignore these resolutions.
