global governance Flashcards
global governance=
the process of multiple nations acting together in matters that affect the entire world- they maintain global systems through laws, norms and institutions
norms, laws and institutions have been formed to deal with issues like:
- international rules are established through international agreements(legally binding)
- norms are accepted standards of behaviour
- institutions are political and legal organisations-they pass and enforce laws

- REGIONAL= warehouse receives the international products and distributes them
- LOCAL= shops buys the international products from the warehouse. local/regional level can affect global instituitions eg 2016 a regional government in belgium temporarily blocked a trade deal between EU and canada

negatives of global institutions(inequalities and injustices)
- some make more inequalities as they arent putting representives of every country
- the WB and IMF only give loans conditionally which leads to exploitation
- companies may manipulate the rules of global institutions in order to enhance their profit which creates injustices
