Glacial transportation and deposition Flashcards
1
Q
Types of glacial transportation
A
Freeze-thaw, plucking, bulldozing, rotational slip.
2
Q
Freeze-thaw weathering transportation.
A
Occurs along the edges, where rot breaks larger rock, and the larger rock falls onto the glacier and is transported.
3
Q
Plucking transportation.
A
Rocks plucked from bottom and sides of the glacier are moved downhill with the ice.
4
Q
Bulldozing transportation.
A
When rocks and debris, found in front go the glacier, are pushed downhill by the sheer force of the moving ice.
5
Q
Rotational slip transportation
A
The circular movement of the ice in a corrie/cirque.
