23,525 canadian offenders on conditional release (95% male)
later filtered down to 4640 matched men and 156 matched women

Content analysis - gathered from the correctional service of Canada’s automated database.
- data was analysed using statistical analysis software
- offenders divided into 2 groups: employed and unemployed
- offenders in employed group matched to unemployed group. (4640 men, 156 women)

- employment group 70% still at liberty
- control group 55% still at liberty
- 15% reduction in reconvonviction

A
Both men and women who were employed were more likely to remain on conditional release until the end of their sentence.
