What things would you consider when assessing if a gift is appropriate to accept

  • Value
  • Timing
  • Proportionate to working relationship
  • Will it affect my ability to act impartially
  • Is it proportionate to gifts being offered to others
  • Who is it being given to (just one person or range of people from different organisations)
  • Is it in line with RICS rules of conduct and relevant legislations

What is RLBs gift policy?

A
  • All hospitality has to be recorded (acepted or refused)
  • No authorisation for small gifts e.g. routine working meal
  • Can accept more significant gifts if:
    • Demonstrable business rationale
    • If over £75, approved by partner
      • Manager must determine if proportionate and appropriate within context of relationship
