To ensure I do not advise clients incorrectly which could lead to complaing or claim of negligence

- Be accountable
- Act with skill, care and diligence
- Ensure appropriate complaint handling procedure in place
- If I think something is not right, prepared to challenge and raise matter with colleagues
How do you provide high standard of service when executing professional appointments
- Always ensure client receives best possible advice and support
- Act within scope of competence
- Being transparent about fees or other costs
- Communicating with client that allows them to make informed decisions
Can you explain how you promote trust in profession
- Understand how my actions affect others and environment
- Fulfilling professional obligations
- Acting in trustworthy manner both proessional and private life
Can you clarify what an individual should do to maintain high ethical standard in their profession
- Keep own actions under review, inside and outside work
- Maintain CPD
- Follow advice given by professional bodies on ethical behaviour
- Help organisation develop ethical ways of working
- Noting any unethical behaviour by others and addressing with the individual where appropriate
What things can employers do to create ethical environment for staff
- Establish confidential procedures for whistle blowing
- Include ethical evaluations in formal performance appraisals
- Include ethical standards in employee hiring, contract and training
- Encouraging staff to progress APC and become chartered
- Promote CPD in relevant area
Difference between ethics and integrity
- Integrity - Internal quality of being honest, having strong moral principles and doing right thing
- Ethics - More external, applies to organisations rules, regulations and organisational code of conduct
