Peptic Ulcer Disease Avoidance
Drugs, Diet
Drugs: avoid NSAIDS
Naproxen, Indomethacin, Ibuprofen
Diet: avoid spicy acidic foods
Pain in the LLQ
Diverticulitis: bubbles in lining
Fever and chills
Lack of dietary fiber (cause) not caused from seeds
Only low fiber diet (during flare up of diverticulitis)
Pain in LUQ
Peritonitis/pancreatitis
Abdominal pain LUQ
Board-like abdomen
No barium edemas (increase abdominal pressure)
No colonoscopy
Priority action for dumping syndrome (manifestations)
Report to the health care provider 30min after eating:
Hypotension, tachycardia, sweating, dizziness, severe abdominal pain, N/V
Diaphoretic
Sweaty skin
Hemoglobin level
Less than “7” sends them to “Heaven”

Difference between non-opioid and opioid meds
Non-opioid: not sedative NSAIDS and acetaminophen
Naproxen, Salicylate acid (aspirin), acetylsalicylic acid (blood thinner aspirin), ibuprofen and indomethacin, Ketorolac (toradol only one given through IV)
Opioids: sedative

Worse pain = Lying down 🛌🔥

LUQ PAIN RADIATING to the back
Pancreatitis

C: Calcium Carbonate (brand: Tums, Rolaids)
