Pt flat
Locate abdo aorta
Stethoscope- top R (aorta), down and out an inch (L renal artery), done below umbilicus (L iliac), don’t to ASIS level (L fem artery)- repeat on R

Shouldn’t be able to hear bruits (suggests narrowed arteries)
Borborygmi- normal sound of digestion- in exam find aorta and listen to bowel sounds (10-30s)

Abdo palpation
A
Bottom hand flat, reinforce with other
Movement produced from metatarsopharyngeal Jt
Find ASIS, continue in circle round to other ASIS
Superficial palpation initially
Repeat with slightly more pressure
Liver + spleen- pull towards you with one hand, other hand palpate. Shouldn’t be able to feel them, if you can may be inflamed or damaged
Same process for kidneys (deep palpation)
