How is liver disease diagnosed?
BW (increased liver values), hypoproteinemia, clotting problems, abdominal ultrasound, liver biopsy/aspirates
What are symptoms of liver disease?
Icterus/Jaundice, V/D, anorexia, PU/PD, hepatic encephalopathy (neuro signs)
What 2 diseases can cause liver disease?
Adenovirus Type 1, Leptospirosis
What are symptoms of hepatic lipidosis?
Anorexia, obesity w/lots of weight loss, depression, vomiting, icterus, -/+ bleeding abnormalities
What cells in the pancreas are damaged in EPI?
Acinar cells
What is a specific sign of HGE?
Strawberry jam diarrhea
What are symptoms of IBD?
Diarrhea -+blood, bloating/increased flatulance, weight loss, anorexia, -+abdominal pain/vomiting
How can IBD be treated?
Hydrolyzed diet, alternative proteins, probiotics, immunosuppresive drugs, GI antiobiotics (metronidazole)
