A

This means he thought that the western powers would not intervene. He made a mistake / misunderstood / blunder.
Caused war: Hitler made a mistake in assuming Br/Fr inaction. Intended war 1943 not 1939.

Pact of Steel
Hope for local war
Blitzkrieg
British inaction over Czechoslovakia
Increasing anti-German British press and public - Hitler unaware

Q

Nazi economic need - CF

A

Contributed: timing.

Nazis went to war in 1939 because there was an economic need. Without taking more land they could not complete remilitarisation (war always a plan)

4 Year Plan failures
Lacked a workforce that expansion could provide
Shortage of raw materials
Living standards declining
Worker relations decreasing - war would boose these
Quick local war - Blitzkrieg - would get Nazis the resources they needed.
