Otto Von Bismarck
A conservative German statesman, diplomat and writer of Prussia who played a major role in the unification of Germany.
North German Confederation
A federal grouping of German states, under Prussian authority, formed after its victory in the Prusso-Austrian War.

The ideology that served as the basis for German unification as it challenged the pre-existing forms of government.

Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 (German: Ausgleich) established the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary. It was signed by Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria and a Hungarian delegation

A series of major European conflicts pitting the French empire against the array of European powers.
Franco-Prussian War
War was declared July 19, 1870. In January 1871, Palace of Versailles was captured and William the 1st was named Kaiser. This empire was called the Second Reich.
