Geomorphic processes Flashcards
What are some examples of geomorphic processes?
Weathering, erosion and deposition
Weathering, erosion and deposition are all examples of what?
Geomorphic processes
What is erosion?
Erosion is the geological process in which earthen materials are worn away and transported by natural forces such as wind or water.
What is deposition?
Deposition is the laying down of sediment carried by wind, flowing water, the sea or ice.
What is weathering?
Weathering describes the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on the surface of Earth.
What are some landforms made by erosion?
Lagoons, Bays and Natural arches
What are some landforms made by weathering?
Natural arches - helps speed up the process. All of the deposition landforms - weathering takes the sediment away and sends it to the landform and then deposition lays down the sediment it receives.
What are some landforms made by deposition?
Tombolos, Dunes, sand spits and Salt marshes
