Geometry Ch 4 Flashcards
SSS
if all three sides of a triangle are congruent to three sides of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent
SAS
if two sides of a triangle and the angle between them are congruent to the corresponding two sides and angle of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent
ASA
if two angles of a triangle and the side between them are congruent to the corresponding two angles and a side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent
Isosceles Triangle
If two sides of a triangle are equal, then the angles opposite them are equal
Equilateral Triangles
equilateral triangles have all three angles equal and all three sides equal
Right Triangle
Right Triangles have one 90° angle, and two acute angles
Acute Triangle
Acute Triangle- must have 3 acute angles
Obtuse Triangle
Obtuse Triangle- must have 1 obtuse angle
pythagorean theorem:
a² + b² = c²
Linear Pair
Linear Pair- two angles that share a side and add to 180° *if two angles of a linear pair are equal, then they are each 90°
Vertical Angles
When two lines intersect, they create vertical angles opposite to each other which are equal
All the angles of a triangle add up to
180°
Distance Formula- between two points on a graph
