A

Cylindrical, conical, azimuthal, interrupted,

21
Q

What are cylindrical map projections

A

Projects the surface of the globe into a cylinder, just touches outer edge of the globe. Resulting projection- rectangle

22
Q

What are conical map projections

A

Project globe into a cone, just touches the outside edges of the globe. Resulting projection - little bigger than a semi circle

Q

What are azimuthal map projection

A

Projects the surface of a globe into a flat surface, resulting projection - circle

24
Q

What are interrupted map projections

A

Resulting projection, weird pattern - sort of triangular

25
Q

How to locate features with longitude and latitude

A

Latitude and longitude are expressed in degrees. Latitude is always written in S° or N° and longitude is written W° or E°. Latitude is always written first

26
Q

What are contour lines

A

A line with the height marked on it. all places on a contour line are the same height above sea level.

27
Q

What is spot height?

A

A dot with the height in meters next to it

28
Q

What are isobars

A

Are lines that join at places of equal air pressure. Air pressure is measured in hectorpascals (hPa)

Q

What are the 2 main lines of longitude

A

Tropic of Cancer (23 1/2° N)

Tropic of Capricorn ( 23 1/2° S)
