Judea
Roman province in the southern Levant extending approximately between the southern end of the Dead Sea north to the Valley of Jezreel (Esdraelon), and from the Jordan River west to the Mediterranean Sea. Idumea is to the south, Judea in the center, and Samaria to the north.
Samaria
The northern portion of the province of Judea centered around Mts. Gerazim and Ebal.
Galilee
Region surrounding the western shore of the Sea of Galilee and extending to the Valley of Jezreel in the south and Lake Huleth in the north. Under political control of Herod Antipas, together with Perea, during the life of Christ.
Perea
Region east of the Jordan River from Samaria south to the northwest shore of the Dead Sea. With Galilee, part of the tetrarchy of Herod Antipas.
Syria
Roman province encompassing the coast of the Mediterranean north of Galilee to Asia Minor and the Euphrates River.
Cyprus
Mediterranean island and Roman province, 40 miles south of the southeastern coast Asia Minor and 75 miles west of the northwestern coast of Syria.
Galatia
Roman province of central Asia Minor. Also, the ethno-geographical region in the north of this province.
Asia
Roman province of western Asia Minor.
Macedonia
Roman province of the south-central Balkan peninsula, north of Achaia.
Achaia
Roman province of the southern Balkan peninsula. Also called “Greece” in the NT.
