What is advancing the line?

A

Advancing the line is trying to increase the size of the coast, an example is groynes which expand the coast by creating beaches (however terminal groyne syndrome)

A

A

Holding the line is when sea defences are put in place to stop the coastal erosion from furthering. Rip rap is an example of that since it dissipates sea energy.
