Geography Flashcards
What do you have to remember when plotting the red line on a climate graph?
That it has to extend to the y-axis.
Which two factors does a climate graph show you?
Rainfall and temperature.
What is the rainfall like in Brazil throughout the year?
In Jan, Feb and March the rainfall is around 150-250mm, in April it is roughly 100-150mm, May-Sept is around 0-50 and finally Oct, Nov and Dec is 150-250mm.
What is the temperature like in Brazil throughout a year?
The temp. doesn’t rise/drop drastically during a year. However, Jan-July has a minor decrease then from July-Sept it rises consistently. Then there is a minor decrease/the temp. stays the same until the end of the year.
What is the rainfall like in the UK over a year?
The rainfall stay from around 50-100mm all through the year. But the lowest point is July and the highest is Jan and the months at the end of the year.
What is the temperature like in the UK over a year?
The temp. has a slow but constant rise until July when the temp. (again) slowly decreases throughout the year.

The amount of calories per person per day, UK-3,440 and Brazil-3,100.
What is the definition of access to clean water and what is it in the UK and Brazil?
The availability of germ free water in percentage of population, UK-100% and Brazil-87%.
Name 6 points to remember when plotting climate graphs.
- Plot points accurately
- Use a ruler
- Chart title
- Axes titles
- Axes labels
- Blue bars for rainfall and red line for temperature
What factors can affect climate?
Altitude, distance from the sea, prevailing wind direction, ocean currents, shelter and latitude.
What are chloropleth maps used for?
They use colour to show variation in data.
