Describe the geographical placement of Bordeaux.
Surrounding the port town of the same name, Bordeaux lies 245km to the north west of Toulouse and 120km to the south of the town of Cognac. The Armagnac region lies to the south.

Describe the geographical placement of Burgundy.
Burgundy lies in the central east of France. It stretches from Dijon at the northern most end of the Cotes de Nuits, to Lyon at the southern end of Beaujolais.
Dijon is 315km to the south east of Paris. Lyon is 465km from Paris and 195km south of Dijon.
The subregion of Chablis is a little removed from the rest of the region, explain its geographical placement.
Chablis lies separated 150km to the north west of the Cote d’Or. It lies to the west of the town of Auxerre which itself is 160km to the south west of Paris.

The westerly most subregion straddling the River Loire close to the Atlantic coast. its principle city is Nantes which lies 344km of Paris. The Rivers Sevre and Maine flow into the Loire from the regions south east.
