Adriatic Sea
Northernmost arm of the Mediterranean Sea, separating the Italian Peninsula from the Balkans, connecting to the Ionian Sea in the south at the Strait of Otranto - Major cities incl. Venice, Trieste, Bari (Italy), Split (Croatia), y Dubrovnik - Area 138,600 km2, max depth 1,233 m - Named for the ancient Etruscan town of Adria, in northern Italy
Gaspé Peninsula
Peninsula along the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec - Separated from New Brunswick by Chaleur Bay
Great Dismal Swamp
Large swamp (450 km2) in the Coastal Plain Region of SE Virginia y NE North Carolina - Lake Drummond, a very circular natural lake, is located in the heart of the swamp - Dismal Swamp Canal (built 1805) runs along the eastern edge - Designated a Nat. Wildlife Refuge in 1973
Gulf of Aden
Aka the Gulf of Berbera - Gulf north of Somalia y south of Yemen, connected with the Red Sea through the Bab el-Mendeb strait at Djibouti, flows east into the Arabian Sea - Important part of the Suez Canal shipping route, with 21k ships crossing annually - Major hub of pirate activity until recent security measures y naval patrols

Large gulf at the northern tip of the Red Sea, east of the Sinai Peninsula and west of the Arabian mainland - Opposite the Gulf of Suez
Kathiawar
A peninsula on the western Indian coast, bordering the Arabian Sea, part of the state of Gujarat - Bordered on the north by the Gulf of Kutch, y by a large salt marsh called the Rann of Kutch; y on the east by the Gulf of Khambhat - The large city of Rajkot lies in the center of the peninsula - Named for the Kathi tribe, who migrated to the region in the 8th century

Largest blackwater swamp in North America (1770 km2) - Shallow peat-filled wetland straddling the Georgia–Florida border
Strait of Juan de Fuca
A 96 mi long, 20 mi wide channel of water connecting the Salish Sea with the Pacific Ocean - Bordered on the north by Vancouver Island, y on the south by the Olympic Peninsula - The international boundary between Canada y the USA runs down the center of the Strait - Named for a Greek navigator who claimed to have explored the area on a 1592 Spanish expedition

A large metro area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany (Central-Western border with France) - Cities of Essen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and more - 4th largest metro area in Europe (after Moscow, London, Paris)
Yellow Sea
Northern part of East China Sea in Pacific Ocean - Between Northern China (Qingdao area) and South Korea - Huang He flows into it - Often colored yellow due to Gobi sands - Northern bay is the Bohai Sea
