An ecosystem is a geographic area where living communities and non-living
environments interact with each other to form life

Every aspect in ecosystems depends on one another

What are provisioning services?
Refers to tangible resources that people can get from ecosystems such as food, water, and wood.
What are regulating services?
Refer to the benefits obtained from the regulation of various ecosystem processes. E.g Climate regulation, pollution control
Why are regulating services needed?
Regulations are needed to ensure sustainability in the use of resources, environment is safe and clean, reduce impacts caused by natural hazards, etc.
What are Cultural services?
Refer to the intangible benefits people obtain from the ecosystems.
Why are cultural services needed?
Helps to foster physical and mental well-being, strengthen bonds through social interactions and develop a sense of identity to the place
What are supporting services?
Refer to services that are necessary for the functioning of all other ecosystem services, including soil formation, pollination and photosynthesis.
