Geo TA2 Questions Flashcards
Explain why NW of UK rains more than SE
to reach this region
2)The NW of UK has mountainous terrain which leads to lots of orographic rainfall and high precipitation levels
3)Prevailing winds for the west also bring this moist air to the west before the east
4)The overall climate in the NW is maritime (milder and wetter conditions) and the SE is more of a continental climate (drier conditions)

Convection currents
-Magma near outer core is heated.
-Magma expands and becomes less dense
-Less dense magma rises to crust
-As magma reaches crust it begins to cool
-Magma spreads out and moves plates with it
-Cooling magma becomes more dense and begins to sink, falling to the outer core where it is reheated
-This reheated magma becomes less dense and rises again
-Rising and falling magma creates circular currents
-Know as convection currents
