Q

internal velocities -Kingfish 1 well

A

x axis - internal velocity. y axis is depth. Each step represents a layer. The length of the interval is the thickness of the layer. At the base of the channel where it suddenly goes in the opposite direction, that is velocity inversion . There is a decrease in velocity due to presence of HC. The trend for the initial curve is Vrms

Q

time structure contour map

A

thickness of the channel is 0.2 sec or 1200ft

time structure is severely distorted by velocity effects of the channel

Q

relationship between time and depth

A

apparent structures on Latrobe are velocity induced. Kingfish are distorted by velocity gradients

Q

Velocity analysis - a how to …

A
  • apply NMO to a CDP gather then measure the correlation between the traces.
  • NMO velocities need calibration to be used in conversion of seismic reflection time.

Q

Seismic Ray tracing

A
  • Ray tracing of CDP gathers andshow transverses of different thickness of the high velocity material
  • Latrobe surface is flat in depth
  • There is an apparent structure in depth as a result of NMP velocities for depth conversion
