Describe the non-fiction genre and it’s subgenres
Nonfiction is writing that is true
- persuasive influence
- informational explains
- autobiography life story written by oneself
- biography written about somebody else’s life
Describe fiction and it’s sub genres
Fiction is imaginative or made up writing
Historical is set in the past and based onreal people
Science includes aliens robots futuristic’s
Realistic includes could be true but not it’s not fantasy
Fantasy includes monsters magic and superpowers
Define folklore and its sub genres
The folklore are stories once passed down orally
Fable is a short story with personified animals and the moral
Myths includes gods or goddesses and it accounts for creation
Tall tales are set in the wild west of the main characters skill size and strength are exaggerated in the exaggeration is humorous
Fairy tales include once upon a time is a fantasy but older has human main characters often fables are similar but fables are way shorter
A legend is based on a real person or place the facts are stretched and exaggerated in a serious way
Define drama and it’s sub genres
Comedy has a happy ending and tragedy ends in death and sadness the drama is a play or script
Define poetry
It’s not prose and has style of writing concerned with imaginative expression and the beauty of language
