Explain how to do a self- breast exam
TIMING: 4-7 days after the start of menstrual period when breasts are least tender/swollen
Palpate in shower- 3 finger pads in circular motions from the clavicle to ribs and from sternum to midaxillary line
Inspect: changes for anything, dimpling puckering…Repeat w/ arms above head to check for retraction signs
Palpate axillae for lumps/swelling
Report any abnormalities
Explain how to do a testicular self-exam
BEGIN around 13-14 years old
Once a month
In shower- warm water relaxes scrotal sac
Examine and report changes immediately
What questions should you ask regarding STI contact?
When was this contact? did you get the disease?
How was it treated? Any complications?
Do you use condoms for prevention of STIs?
Do you have any questions/concerns about any of these diseases?
