Asexual

Sexual
- 2 parents
- variety in offspring
Describe the adult cell cloning process?
- cell taken from sheep wanted to clone and nucleus removed
- egg cell taken from another sheep and nucleus removed
- nuclus 1 inserted into egg cell
- Electric shock given to stimulate division
- inserted into sheeps womb
What are the 2 types of plant cloning?
Cuttings
Tissue culture
Describe tissue culture
Few plant cells taken and grown in growth medium with hormones
New plants grow
Describe the embryo transplant process…
- embryo made from gamete of too quality cows
- embryo produced and divied into cells
- these cells produce identical embryos
- inserted into cow
- genetically identical clones born
What is genetic enigineering?
When certain genes are cut out using enzymes and transferred to other cells
What are pros of GM crops?
-increase yield
- developing countries can GM crops to have needed nutrients in them
- grown in other places with no problem
What are cons of GM crops?
- could affect number of weeds and insects- reducing biodiversity
- not safe - allergies
- may get into environment and cause super weed
What was darwins theory if evolution?
-Evolution by natural selection
-Individuals within a species showed variation
-Some had better suiting characteristics so survived and reproduced passing
on strong genes
