Genetic inheritance
Genes are inherited by children from both their birth parents. Genetic inheritance is a physical factor, having positive and negative effects on health and well being
Inherited physical characteristics
•height
•skin and eyecolour
•hair type and colour
These characteristics have social effects and emotional effects on well-being because they influence a persons self concept
Genes
Genes determine aspects of a persons physical make up, section of DNA(carries a code)
Environmental factors
Diet, someone might not grow to fully determined height if They don’t have enough food
Inherited conditions
Conditions can be caused by a whole chromosome abnormalities e.g. down syndrome, inherits an extra chromosome. 21
Faulty genes
If the gene is faulty, conditions may occur (if parents pass faulty alleles either one parent (dominated) or both parents (recessive))
What does genetic predisposition mean
MORE LIKELY
Some people are predisposition to develop conditions because of their genetic’s e.g. heart disease, cancer, diabetes

Body systems, growth and mobility
Intellectual Effects
Learning, thinking, problem-solving, decision-making
Emotional effects
How people feel about themselves, self image/self conception/self-esteem
Social effects
Ability to build relationships
