Bordeaux AOC and Bordeaux Auperieur AOC:
Rules/Yields
Bordeaux AOC is the vast regional appellation for still red, rosé and white wines. Maximum yield is 65 hL/ha for whites, 62 hL/ha for rosés and 67 hL/ha for reds, resulting in some wines of low flavour concentration.
In Bordeaux Supérieur AOC (also for the entire region) the maximum yield is 59 hL/ha for red wine.
These two appellations together account for 50 per
cent of all wine produced in Bordeaux
TASTING NOTE:
Bordeaux AOC/ Bordeauc superieur AOC:
Red wine
The red wines, which are mainly made from Merlot,
- medium intensity red fruit,
- high acidity,
- medium (+) tannins,
- medium body
- medium alcohol.
Most of the wines are acceptable to good quality and inexpensive to mid-priced.
TASTING NOTE:
Bordeaux AOC/ Bordeauc superieur AOC:
White wine
The white wines are made with increasing amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and have:
- medium intensity gooseberry and lemon fruit,
- medium body,
- high acidity
- medium alcohol.
Most of the wines are acceptable to good quality and inexpensive to mid-priced.
