By rotating coils of wire inside an electromagnetic field

A
By rotating an electromagnet field inside a coil of wires

By cutting off the current whenever it becomes negative (component is called a commutator)

Voltage produced increases with rpm. A voltage control unit is required to output a constant voltage

What happens if voltage falls below that at the bus bar?
A
The current flow will reverse. The alternator or generator essentially becomes an electric motor if nothing is done.
