Generating AC Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the 3 phase AC generator

A

The most common system found on modern jet aircraft. Consists of three stator windings effected by the same magnetic field. Yellow, red and blue systems separated by 120 degree phase angle. Controlled by a voltage regulator to provide a constant output voltage.

Q

What must be done with the CSD (Constant Speed Drive) is oil pressure falls excessively or oil temperature rises excessively and why?

A

It must be shutdown as it is a hydro mechanical system meaning it could become seized allowing the engine to spin freely.
