Describing lesions on thyroid
What is the diagnosis?
Thyroid Agenesis
Describe
Thyroglossal cyst
Thymus
What is pendred syndrome
Pendred syndrome is caused by the lack of a protein called pendrin, which is important in the kidney, ear and thyroid to keep salt levels balanced. Without enough pendrin, the ion levels become unbalanced and cause hearing and balance issues, a swollen thyroid and less commonly electrolyte imbalances.
Sensorineural hearing loss
Describe
Hot focus
Surrounding thyroid parenchyma uptake is lower than salivary gland – uptake depends on TSH. If TSH is high, uptake intensity is high. hyperfunctioning nodule, TSH is low, so uptake low
Hyperfunctioning solitary thyroid nodule/adenoma
Hyperthyroid with right large thyroid nodule
