General Science and Data Flashcards
qualitative vs quantitative, fair testing, and continuous vs discrete data
What is fair testing?
fair testing is choosing 1 manipulated, 1 responding, and several controlled variables. (to make the outcome fair)
what is quantitative data?
based on numbers (ex: number of people in a grade)
what is qualitative data?
(quality) based on observations (ex: hair colour)
what is discrete data?
can be counted but not measured (bar graphs) ex: number of grade seven students at WIC
what is continuous data?
can be measured but not counted ( line graphs) ex: height of grade seven students
where should the manipulated data be on a table?
on the left side, with the responding on the right. (starts: left to right)
where should the manipulated data be on a graph?
on the x axis, and responding on the y axis
