General Questions Flashcards
Why do you want to work at York St John University?
Having recently worked at York St John, I look back on my time here with really positive memories and a strong sense of pride in being part of the university. What initially drew me to YSJ was its deep commitment to community, equality, and its fantastic local reputation—both as a university and as an employer. These values align closely with my own, and during my time here, I saw firsthand how they are embedded in everything YSJ does.
Returning to the education sector was an unexpected but rewarding shift for me, and my previous role at YSJ confirmed that supporting and working with students is what I’m truly passionate about. The sense of purpose and connection I felt in this environment made it my most fulfilling role to date, and I would love the opportunity to contribute to YSJ again.
What attracted you to the role of Student Opportunities Coordinator?
I am a strong advocate for education, equality, and the arts, and I am passionate about ensuring that all students—especially those facing additional barriers—have access to opportunities that can shape their future. I find great fulfillment in supporting others to reach their potential, and I believe that everyone deserves to have their voice heard and their ambitions supported.
The role of Student Opportunities Coordinator aligns perfectly with my skills and values. My experience in marketing, content creation, and student engagement means I can effectively promote opportunities and connect with diverse student groups. I’m particularly drawn to the focus on supporting underrepresented students and ensuring they feel empowered to access these life-changing experiences.
Additionally, I see this role as an excellent way to further develop my expertise in student support before beginning my PGCE. The fixed-term nature of the position fits seamlessly with my long-term plans, making it an ideal next step for me.
