How many pairs of Spinal Nerves are there? Cranial Nerves?
Spinal Nerves=31 / Cranial Nerves=12
What do C, T, L, S, and Coc. mean when describing spinal nerve pairs?
C=Cervical / T=Thoracic / L=Lumbar / S=Sacral / Coc.=Coccygeal
How many Cervical nerve pairs are there? Describe them.
8 total…each nerve exits above its corresponding vertebra, except the 8th one doesn’t have a corresponding vertebra
How many Thoracic nerve pairs are there? Describe them.
12 total….T1 is where nerves begin exiting below their corresponding vertebra
How many Lumbar nerve pairs are there? Describe them.
5 total….the spine ends at about the level of L2
How many Sacral nerve pairs are there? Describe them.
5 total….From L2-S5, the nerves exit noticeably caudally (downward)
The frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes are further divided into bulges called..
Indentations are known as…
Gyri (gyrus for singular)
Sulci (sulcus) or fissures (large indentations)
The hole at the base of the skull where the spinal cord becomes the brain stem
Foramen Magnum
Parts of the Diencephalon
Thalamus and Hypothalamus
