General mechanisms in cell signalling Flashcards
1
Q
What is the general mechanism in cell signalling
A
- Signalling molecule comes from extracellular environment
- Signalling molecule will bind to its receptor
- Upon the interaction between the receptor and signalling molecule, the receptor changes
- Changes include changes in conformation or they get phosphorylated etc.
- This leads to the transduction of a signal inside the cell

Q
What are example cellular responses that we get from the output of transduction?
A
- Finally output of transduction is a cellular response which could be:
- Transcriptional repression
- Transcriptional activation
- Metabolic response
- Cell behaviour
