Who may attend a Bethel meeting?

Who prepares the Bethel room before the meeting?
Marshal, SC, JC, supervised by the Custodian of Paraphernalia or other Council member.
Who removes all paraphernalia from the Bethel room and puts it away after the meeting?

What should be placed in the Anteroom before each meeting?

What can be placed on the Altar other than the bible?
other appropriate Holy Books and the Altar cloth. Flowers may be placed on the Altar during the Memorial Ceremony or other appropriate ceremonies. They shall remain there until the meeting is closed.
Which Officers are part of the semicircle?
Chaplain, Treasurer, 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M, 5M
Describe the set up of the semicircle.
The backs of the C and T chairs are in line with the west side of the Altar, allowing 3 steps from the north or south side of the Altar to these chairs. The 1M and 3M chairs are 3 steps west of the C and T chairs. The right side of the 1M side is in line with the center of the T chair. The left side of the 3M chair is in line with the center of the C chair. The 2M and 4M chairs are placed 2 steps west of the 1M and 3M chairs. The right side of the 2M chair is in line with the center of the 1M chair. The left side of the 4M chair is in line with the center of the 3M chair. The 5M chair is 2 steps west of the 2M and 4M chairs in line with the center of the Altar and the HQ station.
Which direction do the chairs in the semicircle face?
East
Describe where the Librarian, Custodians, and Recorder chairs are placed?
2 steps east of the East Line with the back of the chairs 3 steps west of the HQ podium or at the bottom step of the East Dias. The desk for the Recorder shall be placed close to her station in the Bethel, if possible.
Where is the Musician seated?
At the instrument. If there is no instrument, a chair shall be placed for the Musician in a position where she can effectively carry out her duties.
Where is the Dove placed?
on the pedestal between the stations of the JC and Recorder. The Dove faces west.
Where is the Urn placed?
on the pedestal between the stations of the SC and Librarian. The handle of the Urn is turned north.
Where is the Horn of Plenty placed?
on the HQ podium, south of the center, near the west edge, facing northwest.
Where is the Lily of the Valley placed?
on the HQ podium, north of center, on the northwest corner.
Where is the Charter placed?
at the foot of the west side of the HQ podium unless other provisions for its placement have been approved.
What can be placed between the HQ podium and the Altar?
Only the charter unless otherwise specified in a ceremony

How is the Bethel Flag carried?
at a 60 degree angle by holding her right hand around the staff with her thumb pointing upward toward the flag. The right hand is placed on the staff at a height of, and on a level with , the left shoulder, elbow relaxed. The left hand is at the waistline, hand around the staff, with the base of the hand resting against the hip.
Does the person presenting the Bethel Flag sing?
Yes
Describe the Attitude of Prayer.
bowing the head slightly and placing the open hands palm to palm, fingers together pointing upward, forearms following the line of the cord, elbows close to the body.
When do daughters assume and release the Attitude of Prayer?
When the Chaplain does, unless the Ritual specifies otherwise.
Can Majority Members assume the Attitude of Prayer?

What does the HQ say after a motion has been seconded?
“It has been moved by (name) and seconded that (repeat the motion). Is there any discussion?”
After discussion of a motion has concluded, what does the HQ say?
“Are you ready for the question” if no further discussion is needed, “All those in favor of (repeat the motion) will vote by the voting sign of the Order (Pause for vote). Those opposed, same sign. (Pause for vote)”
When does the HQ vote on a motion?
Only to break a tie.
What does the HQ say after a motion has been voted on?
“The motion is carried” if passed. “The motion is defeated” if not passed.
What is the Voting Sign of JDI?

no, but she does sing the response after the Obligation (if sung) and the first verse of “Now Our Work is Over”.
How does the Chaplain approach the Altar?
leaves her station, marches diagonally to a point halfway between the East Dais and the Altar, in front of the HQ, turns west and marches to the Altar.
When does the Chaplain kneel?
when the music stops
What does the Chaplain do at the end of a prayer?
the Chaplain releases the Attitude of Prayer, and then rises from her knees when the Musician plays the chord to “To a Wild Rose” or “Peace”
Which songs are to be played for the Chaplain to return to her station after a prayer?
“To a Wild Rose” or “Peace”
How does the Chaplain return to her station after a prayer?
backs to the halfway point, marches diagonally to her station, then turns toward the Altar and faces west.
How does the Chaplain time her steps to the music?
so that she reaches the Altar or her station at the conclusion of the song
Describe how the Chaplain open the Bible?
by using both hands, placing the left hand at the back of the Bible to keep it at the center of the Altar. With her right hand on the lower corner of the Bible, she slowly stands it upright. Then, using both hands, she slowly opens it until the Bible rests flat on the Alter.
When can the Chaplain rest her arms on the Altar?
never
Describe how the Chaplain closes the Bible.
Using both hands, reverently raise both the front and back covers until it is upright. She places her left hand on the back of the Bible to keep it at the center of the Altar, using her right hand at the lower corner to slowly lay it on the Altar.
What tempo should march music and Altar music be played at?
an easy walking tempo
When can optional music not found in the Music Book be played?
Escort, Coin March, and removal of chairs.
