What is a Citation?

A

A writ issued by a court ordering a person to appear at a specific time and place and at that time and place, do a specific act or to show the court sufficient cause why they cannot do so or shouldn’t be required to do so.

A

An authority in writing issued by a Magistrate or other competent person directing police officers to take a course of action which might not otherwise be lawful.

What are the 3 Types of Warrant?

A
  • Apprehension = Written authority to arrest a named person and bring that person before the issuing or other competent court without delay.
  • Means Enquiry = Arrest the named person and bring them before the court if they fail to pay outstanding fine.
  • Extract Conviction = When a person fails to pay the fine you should arrest them and take them straight to prison.
