General + Binomial Distribution Flashcards
What is Discrete data?
Distinct Definite Values.
What is Continuous data?
Values over an interval.
What is Random Variables?.
Takes several values with different/same probabilities.
What is Discrete Random Variable?
An exact distinct definite value that varies based on its probabilities.
Head & Tail (Coin Tosses)
Probability;
AND - XA discrete random
OR - +
What are the 2 types of data?
I. Discrete
II. Continuous
What is Binomial Distribution, formula, and notation?
A discrete random variable of X is said to follow the B.D with parameters ‘n’ & ‘p’ if it p.d.f is given as follows…. (Formula)
- N - Number of repetitions/trials - P - Probability of success - Q - Probability of failure ~
E(X) - np
Var(X) - npq
What are the conditions for Binomial Distribution?
- The random variable under study should be discrete.
- The number of trials/repetitions should be small. (n<20/n<30)
- The probability of success remains constant from trial to trial. Vis-versa
- The trials are independent of each other.
- Each trial results in one of 2 outcomes, that is either a success or a failure. (B.T)
How many trials does B.D has?
Finite trials (Know where it stops.)
