Of strong and harmonious construction with powerful appearance. The preferred subjects are those with lean limbs, well developed muscles, well defined lines with a markedly sculpted head and a very obvious lower orbital chiseling, elements which all contribute to give distinction to this breed.
Important proportions: Length of the body is the same or a little more then the height at the withers. Length of head is equal to 4/10 of the height at the withers; its width, measured at the level of the zygomatic arches, is less than half its length. Skull and muzzle are of equal length.
Bracco Italiano
Smallest of the pointing breeds. The xxxx is a dog with a Continental spaniel-type head (braccoide in French) and a short or non-existent tail. Built harmoniously on a solid but not weighty frame. The whole is compact and well knit, without undue heaviness, while staying
sufficiently elegant. The dog is vigorous, the look is bright and the expression intelligent. The general aspect is cobby, full of energy, having conserved in the course of its evolution the short-coupled model sought after and fixed by those having recreated the breed.
Important proportions:
- The skull is longer than the muzzle, with a ratio of 3:2.
- The head is in proportion to the body.
- The depth of chest, from the withes to brisket, is slightly less than half the height of the dog.
- The scapulo-ischial length (from the point of the shoulder to the point of the buttocks) is equal to the height at the withers (the dog fits in a square).
Brittany
xxxx is a dog of noble and balanced appearance, the conformation of which ensures strength, endurance and speed. Proud attitude, smooth outlines, lean head, well carried tail, firm shiny coat and well reaching, harmonious strides emphasise its nobility.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS: Length of body should slightly exceed height at withers.
GSP
A pointing dog of noble appearance, with harsh coat completely protecting the skin, with an attentive expression full of energy. The movement should be powerful, ground covering, flowing and harmonious.
Important proportions: The length of the body and the height at withers should be as equal as possible. The length of the body may exceed the height at withers by up to 3 cm.
GWP
He is a medium sized, elegant gun dog of noble appearance with a short russet gold coat. His rather light, dry, lean structure embodies the harmony of beauty and strength.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS:
· The body length slightly exceeds the height at the withers.
· The depth of the brisket is slightly less than half the height at the withers.
· The muzzle is slightly shorter than half the length of the head.
Hungarian Vizsla
A lively, russet gold hunting dog of dry and lean but more robust construction compared to the xxxx. His appearance embodies his qualities as a multi-purpose pointing dog, endurance, working ability and an easily satisfied nature.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS:
· The body length slightly exceeds the height at the withers.
· The depth of the brisket is slightly less than half the height at the withers.
· The muzzle is slightly shorter than half the length of the head.
HWV
Solid, squarely built, strong bone and well muscled. Kind and earnest expression.
Italian Spinone
Alert and energetic, with strong muscular body, having good movement with drive.
Large Musterlander
A medium to large size hunting dog. Functional working type, pleasing in shape, sinewy and very muscular. Difference in type between dogs and bitches easily distinguished.
Important proportions:
- Length of body to height at withers approximately 12:11
- Proportions of the head: From tip of nose to stop slightly longer than from stop to occiput.
- Forequarters: Distance from elbow to mid pastern and distance from elbow to point of withers about equal. [Distance from elbow to ground is slightly longer than distance from elbow to withers]
Weimaraner and Weimaraner Longhaired
Dog of moderate strength, working type, but with nobleness in his lines. The basic colour of the coat is called “grey” and the hair is harsh (hard). He must be fit and able to work on the plain, in the woods and in the water and especially to work after the shooting, searching and retrieving wounded game. He is obedient and easy to train.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS :
Shape : The ratio of length of the body to the height at the withers must be of 10 : 9 in the males and of 10 : 8 in the females.
Unique type : It is desirable that the dog be solidly built, but not of a heavy type.
Wirehaired Slovakian Pointer
The xxx is stocky in build with a solid liver-coloured curled coat. His size and build create a rectangular outline. He has a strong moderately broad head with a distinctive stop. His ears hang loosely and frame the face. Distinctive webbed feet are a hallmark of the breed.
